Merit Coffee Co. Matcha Review

During a recent trip to Dallas for the 4th of July, my husband, our friend Camilla, and I stumbled upon Merit Coffee Co. in the vibrant Deep Ellum district — one of their 13 branches spread across Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin. The modern, friendly café with its carefully curated menu, Merit was the first of the coffee shops I noticed that was not only welcoming, but it also had a genuine interest in the art of coffee brewing.

Merit is a coffee roaster meaning they make their own beans, through which they maintain the quality and flavor of the drinks they serve – this is their commitment, and you can get a whiff of it with every sip. Besides drinks, the menu features items such as rich pour-overs and espresso-based beverages, delightful seasonal matcha creations, and savory breakfast options. Recently, they have introduced a breakfast sandwich made with fluffy eggs, melty American cheese, and your choice of sausage or spicy chorizo — a clear highlight of my visit.

I went for the strawberry matcha latte, which is a delicious and original drink that represents the concept’s upward trend while having it with the spicy chorizo breakfast sandwich which soon after became one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The combination of spice, dripping cheese, and well-seasoned filling was the perfect match for the cool, lightly sweet matcha – a pairing I won’t forget for a long time.

With its attentive menu, community spirit, and dedication to excellence, Merit Coffee Co. set a high standard for the competition. Be it a coffee lover or a seeker of a good brunch, this spot will not be a disappointment in Dallas.
